Montreal Carabins

The Montreal Carabins are the varsity athletic teams of the Université de Montréal, located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Carabins compete in the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) conference and are members of U Sports, the national governing body for university sports in Canada.

The Montreal Carabins are named after the Montreal-area unit named after the carabin cavalry, "Les Carabiniers Mont Royal". A Carabinier was originally a cavalry soldier armed with a carbine (a short version of a musket). The word is derived from the identical French word carabinier.
