The Atlanta Legends: A Brief Glimmer in the AAF

The Atlanta Legends were a fleeting yet memorable part of the Alliance of American Football (AAF). Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the team played their home games at Georgia State Stadium and were one of the eight original members of the AAF.

The Legends were unique in being one of only two AAF teams located in a city that also hosted an NFL team. Coached by Kevin Coyle and managed by Billy Devaney, the team had a challenging start but showed promise.

Though the AAF ceased operations in April 2019, the Atlanta Legends left a lasting impression. Their colors of purple, gold, and white were a tribute to Atlanta's rich history, including figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and Hank Aaron.
