The NFL has been exploring the possibility of adding a team in the UK for several years. In 2018, the league announced a 10-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur to play two regular-season games at its stadium in London. The games have been a success, with sellout crowds and positive reviews from fans.
In 2022, the NFL announced that it would be expanding its International Home Marketing Area (IHMA) program to include the UK. This means that 18 NFL teams will now be able to market themselves and sell tickets in the UK. The league has also said that it is "actively evaluating" the possibility of adding a team in the UK.
This morning, it was announced that a UK NFL team will be entering the NFL in the near future. Initially, they will not be part of the competition that ends in the Super Bowl every year, however, The Lion Pride will play in some pre-season games until full details are ironed out. The possibility of fully incorporating the UK Lion Pride could be as soon as 2025.
